How to migrate SealSign data from SQL Server to Oracle.

This article describes the prerequisites and steps required to migrate the SealSign configuration and audit data from a SQL Server database to an Oracle SealSign tablespace.

This article doesn’t include the steps to install and configure a SealSign Server against an Oracle database. For information about that, follow the SealSign DSS Installation Guide document.

Prerequisites:

  1. The SealSign tablespace structure and permissions must be created on the Oracle server. Follow the instructions of the Oracle paragraph from the SealSign DSS Installation Guide document to do that.
  2. The migration computer must have the Oracle Data Access Components (ODAC) for Microsoft Windows, including the Oracle Data Provider for .NET 2 module, installed.
  3. The migration computer must have the SQL Server DTExec utility installed.
  4. The migration computer must have the MigrateSealSignDataToOracle utility.

Steps:

  1. Edit the MigrateSealSignDataToOracle.exe.config configuration file and configure next values:
    1. SQLServerConnectionString: specify the connection string to the source database (SQLServer).
    2. OracleConnectionString: specify the connection string to the target database (Oracle). Be sure that the specified user have execution permissions over the oracle dbms_crypto package.
    3. DTExecCommand: specify the full path of the DTExec utility.
  2. On a command window with administrative privileges, execute the MigrateSealSignDataToOracle.exe utility to do the data migration.
